Chiesi Foundation
During its first year, the Chiesi Foundation focused its attention on the company’s social responsibility issues and on basic research, above all aimed at the fight against chronic respiratory disease. Thanks to positive contributions from the Committee of Experts, consisting of professors Claudio Albino Bosio (vice president of the Eurisko Institute and consultant professor in Marketing Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology at the Università Cattolica di Milano), Dario Olivieri (Respiratory Disease Division at the Università degli Studi di Parma) and Giuseppe Remuzzi (Head of Specialist and Transplant Medicine at the Spedali Riuniti di Bergamo, Coordinator of research conducted at the Laboratories and the Centro Daccò at the Mario Negri Institute of Pharmacological Research), the Foundation made a significant commitment towards the Premio Socialis for social responsibility within the company, and the premio Aretè for responsible communication.
In 2006, through a contribution from the European Respiratory Society, the Foundation also provided an unrestricted grant of 20,000 Euro for a young researcher who was able to make a particularly innovative contribution to pneumological research. The prize will be awarded at the European Respiratory Society Congress which is to take place in Stockholm in 2007. Currently collaborating with the World Health Organisation, numerous scientific companies and patient associations together with fund raising activities for research has ensured that the Foundation maintains close contact with the medico-scientific community and patients, to fight even more effectively against serious respiratory diseases.
